Since there founding in 1991, Pro-ject's goal has been to bring HiFi stereo music to as many people as possible. With the A1, they introduced the AUTOMAT line, combining automatic turntable technology with exceptional sound quality for easier vinyl listening.

Handcrafted in Germany and assembled in the Czech Republic by skilled technicians, this reliable technology allows us to deliver Pro-Ject sound to a wider audience, offering affordable, high-quality HiFi for homes worldwide.

Building on the success of the A1, Pro-ject are now enhancing the drive system for an even better experience.

Key Features:

  • EW aluminium die-cast platter
  • Updated drive system
  • Pre-adjusted Ortofon OM10 cartridge
  • Built in, switchable phono preamp
  • 8.3" black-aluminium ultra-light-mass tonearm

  • Premium semi-symmetrical Connect it E phono cable
  • Gold plated RCA cable connectors

AUTOMAT Technology

The fully mechanical automatics engage when you press start, automatically moving the tonearm to the lead-in groove of the record. Once playback begins, the automatics are completely disengaged. Because the system is entirely mechanical—requiring no additional electronics—it doesn’t impact or degrade sound quality during playback.

Heavy Wooden Chassis

The wooden chassis is designed to minimise hollow spaces, and its heavy mass reduces unwanted resonances while isolating the A1.2 from external influences.

Silicon Damped Feet

The feet decouple the turntable from its surface using an internal silicon damping layer. This essential feature protects your vinyl playback from external interference and resonances, ensuring optimal sound quality.

Ultra-Light-Mass Aluminium Tonearm

The A1 features an 8.3” ultra-light-mass aluminium tonearm. Paired with the Ortofon OM10 cartridge, it delivers exceptional speed, detail, and microdynamics. The tracking force and anti-skating are pre-adjusted at the factory, making the A1.2 ready to use in seconds.

Carbon Fibre Reinforced Headshell

The headshell is a new design made from carbon fibre-reinforced polymer, providing exceptional stability and rigidity while keeping weight to a minimum. This material offers excellent internal damping to reduce resonances.

New Die-Cast Aluminium Platter

We replaced the stamped aluminium platter of the A1 with a newly designed die-cast version. For perfect playback, the platter is also CNC-machined.

Perfect Speed, Phono Preamp, Cable

In true Pro-Ject style, the motor is electronically controlled for precise speed. Switching between 33 & 45 RPM is easy with the push of a button. The built-in switchable phono preamp adds versatility, allowing you to connect directly to any line input or use a separate phono preamp. The A1 comes with the Connect it E phono cable, a semi-balanced, low-capacitance cable with superior shielding.
